Salary: USD 220,000 - 260,000 / annual

You will join as a Staff Software Engineer reporting directly to the CTO, owning high-leverage technical work across the backend platform, infrastructure, and AI product surface. This is a hands-on technical role where you will stay close to the code, make credible architectural decisions, and hold the bar on engineering quality. You will work alongside the founding team on some of the hardest problems in the system.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own the architecture and technical roadmap for one or more core platform areas, balancing speed, quality, security, and scalability
- Write, review, and ship production code that drives customer and business outcomes while shaping team coding standards
- Leverage generative AI tools daily to improve quality, speed, and effectiveness of technical and non-technical work
- Serve as a technical escalation point for complex production issues, driving postmortems and preventative fixes
- Champion improvements across the enterprise software development lifecycle
- Build demos, prototypes, examples, and technical content to help customers and colleagues adopt new technologies
- Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, sales executives, and other stakeholders in an in-person environment
- Mentor and unblock other engineers, modeling the technical judgment the team aspires to
- Proactively surface and resolve systemic issues such as technical debt, reliability gaps, or process bottlenecks

REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Direct experience with Python, Terraform, and AWS
- Demonstrated track record of leading technical initiatives and driving architectural decisions across multiple systems or teams without formal people-management authority
- Proficiency in backend frameworks such as Node.js, NuxtJS, Express.js, or Python
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or Vercel)
- Strong knowledge of programming languages (Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C++, or Go)
- Hands-on knowledge of RPC technologies and API architectures (REST, gRPC, GraphQL)
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Firebase)
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab, or similar)
- Experience with source code versioning (Git or Perforce)
- Deep knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed application design at scale
- Familiarity with AI platforms (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, Vertex AI, Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker)
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale enterprise-grade applications with 99%+ service-level availability
- Advanced proficiency in Python, Terraform, and GCP
Plus factors: experience building platforms or tools for engineering teams, operating as a de facto technical lead without the title, turning ambiguous problems into clear technical plans, and mentoring or informally coaching other engineers.
