Bazaarvoice creates smart shopping experiences by connecting brands and retailers with billions of consumers through user-generated content, reviews, and real-time consumer feedback. The Manage Content team owns solutions for client and shopper communication, enabling brands to respond to reviews and questions quickly to improve customer loyalty.
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will design, develop, deliver, and own a range of solutions extending Bazaarvoice's client experience portfolio. This is a technical leadership role that goes beyond code excellence—you will take full ownership of product outcomes and drive impact across the organization.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Own architectural decisions across one or more products, demonstrating deep expertise in cloud patterns (microservices, serverless, streaming, CI/CD, data management, security, observability)
- Champion clean, secure, and high-performing code; lead troubleshooting with deep insight into runtime health, logging, and platform observability
- Proactively drive continuous improvement, evangelize best practices, and turn technical ideas into production-ready execution
- Stay at the forefront of agentic AI, designing and advocating for AI-driven workflows that augment engineering productivity and unlock new product capabilities
Leadership & Product Ownership:
- Engage with clients, product managers, designers, and leadership to discover, break down, and solve problems; communicate technical concepts clearly across all audiences
- Coach and mentor engineers technically and professionally; drive team refinement, share knowledge broadly, and act as a cultural multiplier
- Balance hands-on technical contributions with strategic guidance; collaborate across portfolios to deliver high-value software aligned with long-term business goals
Tech Stack: Java (backend/API), React, Node.js, TypeScript, Express (frontend/BFFE), AWS, Terraform, EKS, Docker, GitHub Actions (platform/CI/CD), Datadog, Logz.io, PagerDuty, CloudWatch, Sentry, FullStory (observability).
You should take ownership of product evolution, be proactive in attacking problems, come up with solutions when presenting challenges, look for repeatable patterns that impact peers, care about both client and peer growth, and ask "What is the client trying to achieve?" when starting work. You should measure success based on impact on both clients and peers.
Requirements:
- Deep expertise in cloud architectural patterns and microservices architecture
- Strong background in Java backend development and modern frontend technologies (React, TypeScript)
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead engineering teams
- Experience with observability tools and platform engineering
- Familiarity with agentic AI concepts and ability to advocate for responsible AI adoption
- Product-minded engineering mindset with ability to engage stakeholders
- Willingness to undergo AccessNI background check (required for Belfast location)
