6sense is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Backend) to lead the design and evolution of the platform and framework ecosystem. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on building scalable frameworks, driving engineering excellence, and influencing teams across the organization.
You will own the design and development of scalable, resilient frameworks that empower customer-facing APIs. Key responsibilities include influencing architecture and design decisions across multiple teams, acting as a technical advisor for complex challenges, and aligning engineering initiatives with business goals. You will champion best practices in software engineering—including code quality, testing, observability, and maintainability—across the organization.
The role emphasizes developer productivity and experience: you will advocate for improvements in tooling, documentation, and onboarding, and act as a developer evangelist for platform capabilities. You will mentor senior engineers, raise the technical bar through code reviews and design discussions, and leverage generative AI and AI coding tools to accelerate developer productivity and automate repetitive tasks.
Required qualifications include 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with at least 2 years in a staff-level role. Strong proficiency in Java or Golang is essential. You should have experience building platforms, frameworks, libraries, or SDKs at scale, and a solid understanding of software engineering best practices (code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability). Cloud-native architectures, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes) experience is required, along with solid database knowledge (SQL and NoSQL) and caching strategies.
You must demonstrate proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence without direct authority, familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices, and understanding of AI-native software development practices including automated code generation and AI-driven testing. Strong communication skills and proven leadership experience, including mentoring engineers, are essential.
Desirable qualifications include experience with Python and Django, building scalable external or partner-facing APIs, acting as a technical evangelist, and familiarity with API gateways, authentication/authorization patterns, and rate limiting.
