ServiceNow is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to architect and lead the evolution of its integration layer, bridging legacy security infrastructure with AI-native autonomous agents. This is a high-impact role for a seasoned technical leader who thrives on complexity and architectural excellence.
You will design and evolve highly resilient, distributed integration architectures (APIs, webhooks, streaming data pipelines) capable of handling enterprise-scale throughput with minimal latency. A core focus is pioneering the shift from ingestion-only integrations to autonomous security orchestration—embedding LLM-based reasoning and agentic workflows into the core product stack. You will build scalable libraries and unified data models that enable the platform to interoperate seamlessly across the global security ecosystem.
You will partner directly with Product and R&D leadership to prototype and ship high-impact features solving critical, real-world security challenges. Beyond individual contribution, you will set the technical standard for the engineering organization, mentoring senior engineers and driving code quality, system performance, and innovation across the team.
This role demands a hardened technical engineer with deep expertise in distributed systems, networking, and emerging AI/ML integration patterns. You will be a key driver in transforming the integration factory into a self-service, high-performance platform capable of orchestrating security at global scale.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 15+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a proven track record designing production-grade distributed systems
- Expert-level proficiency in Python, including deep understanding of memory management, concurrency models, and performance optimization
- Mastery of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, L3-L7 protocols) and security infrastructure
- Expert-level system design: highly available, fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable distributed architectures (Kafka, message queues, microservices)
- Demonstrated experience or strong desire to master LLM-powered application development (RAG, agentic workflows, loop engineering)
- Product-first mindset: ability to treat system design as a business problem and articulate complex technical trade-offs to stakeholders
- Preferably MS or PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent experience in a highly technical, fast-paced environment
