Hims & Hers, a NYSE-traded health and wellness platform, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the evolution of its AI & Recommendations Platform. This is a technical leadership role focused on building scalable systems that power treatment recommendations, provider decision support, and experimentation across multiple healthcare verticals. You will design and develop scalable backend systems, APIs, and platform services that enable personalized healthcare at scale. Key responsibilities include architecting infrastructure for experimentation and recommendation engines, productionizing ML models in collaboration with data science teams, and building highly reliable distributed systems. You'll drive platform investments in self-service tooling, testing infrastructure, unified decisioning frameworks, and data pipelines while establishing reusable patterns and best practices across vertical teams. The role involves evaluating and integrating emerging AI and LLM technologies to improve provider efficiency and patient outcomes, leading complex technical initiatives spanning multiple teams, and mentoring engineers through design reviews and architecture discussions. You'll influence the long-term technical direction of the MedMatch platform and broader AI ecosystem. Required qualifications include 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems at scale, strong expertise in backend engineering, distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native architectures. You should have demonstrated success leading large technical initiatives, experience building data-intensive applications leveraging ML or recommendation systems, and strong proficiency in Python. Experience integrating ML models, recommendation engines, or LLM applications into production, familiarity with ML lifecycle concepts, and cloud platform expertise (AWS, Kubernetes, Databricks, MLflow, Airflow) are expected. Nice-to-have qualifications include experience building recommendation systems, ranking systems, or decision-support systems; healthcare or regulated environment experience; and advanced degrees in Computer Science or Machine Learning.
