Arketa is building an operating system for modern fitness and wellness, enabling studios and wellness entrepreneurs to manage and scale hybrid businesses. The platform handles scheduling, bookings, payments, on-demand video libraries, retreats, marketing automation, and branded apps. The company raised $15M in Series A and is growing rapidly. You'll join as a Staff Software Engineer focused on building customer-facing AI products and modernizing core architecture. Your primary surface is an AI product that automates operational work for studio owners, helping them grow their businesses. You'll also modernize infrastructure, build agentic loops, CI/CD systems, and observability tooling that enables a small team to ship at startup velocity. This is a permanent individual contributor role with no management track. You'll work across the full stack (TypeScript, Node, NestJS, React, Postgres) shipping features daily. You'll mentor mid and junior engineers, establish technical patterns, and partner with engineering leadership on direction. The team operates with high autonomy and minimal process: customer requests Monday become shipped products by Wednesday with feedback by Friday. Success means shipping to production in week one, introducing AI-powered capabilities the team lacked, and becoming a model staff engineer whose patterns and tooling become load-bearing for team operations. You'll influence how 20+ engineers work, design reliable systems with strong observability and incident response, and lead successful technical migrations. The role requires 8+ years of software engineering experience (evidence over credentials), full-stack contribution across all layers, fluency in JavaScript/TypeScript, and active use of AI tooling in daily work—not just coding assistants but agentic workflows and automation. You should have a track record of influencing engineering orgs, strong product judgment for scoping ambiguous problems, and comfort with high autonomy and low process.
