Temporal is an open-source programming model that simplifies code, improves application reliability, and accelerates developer productivity. The AI Foundations team is dedicated to accelerating Temporal adoption across the entire ecosystem by combining deep use-case understanding with computer systems and software design fundamentals. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of developer tools and AI infrastructure.
In this Staff-level position, you will:
- Design and build agentic coding systems that deliver high-quality outputs, working on agent skills that enhance tools like Codex and Claude Code
- Design and implement Temporal AI SDK features supporting diverse frameworks (Pydantic AI, AI SDK by Vercel, Google ADK, OpenAI Agents SDK, and others)
- Develop deep expertise in AI application development patterns, emerging architectures, and agentic development approaches
- Own end-to-end feature delivery, collaborating across teams to ensure exceptional reliability and developer experience
- Work across multiple programming languages: Python, TypeScript, Java, and Go
- Serve as a domain expert on AI design patterns, providing best practices and canonical examples to field staff and the developer community
- Engage directly with the developer community to debug complex issues, gather feedback, and refine Temporal's AI capabilities
- Author public technical documentation on Temporal concepts and APIs
- Contribute to the open-source ecosystem and occasionally speak at developer conferences
Temporal is fully remote with a collaborative, writing-first culture. The company values curiosity, drive, collaboration, genuineness, and humility. You'll work with an action-oriented team that ships fast while maintaining rigorous technical fundamentals. Occasional travel (1-2 weeks annually) for team meetings is expected.
