Rippling is building foundational AI infrastructure to power intelligent, automated experiences across its HR, IT, and Finance platform. The Agents, Automations & Plugins team sits within the AI Cloud organization and owns everything related to creating, invoking, installing, and orchestrating AI agents—both for Rippling's internal product teams and for customers building their own solutions.
As a Staff Software Engineer on this team, you will drive the technical architecture and implementation of three core areas:
**Plugins & MCP Connectivity**: Design and build the systems that enable external tools and services to connect seamlessly to Rippling's AI layer, including Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations.
**Automations**: Develop event-driven and scheduled AI-powered workflows that execute autonomously, handling complex business logic and orchestration across the platform.
**Agents**: Build the foundational platform and infrastructure that powers AI agents, enabling both internal teams and external customers to create intelligent, autonomous systems.
You will work on systems that handle scale, reliability, and extensibility. This is a high-impact role where you'll influence product direction, mentor other engineers, and solve complex distributed systems challenges. The role requires deep expertise in backend systems, AI/ML infrastructure, API design, and orchestration patterns.
