As a Staff Software Engineer on the Security Team, you will own broad initiatives to eliminate classes of vulnerabilities from Verkada's platform. This is a hands-on role where you write code daily across multiple technology stacks while collaborating with engineering teams across the Command platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading security initiatives to scale Verkada's SDLC through automation, libraries, tools, and frameworks
- Building developer-friendly tools that make it easy for engineers to implement security best practices
- Leveraging AI to automate security engineering practices and improve vulnerability detection
- Collaborating with engineering leaders to define and execute security goals and priorities
- Working with the CISO and security team to grow Verkada's broader security and privacy programs
- Sharing security expertise internally and externally through conferences, presentations, blogs, and open source contributions
- Wearing a PM hat when needed to drive adoption of security tools and demonstrate organizational impact
You bring 7+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on security problems, a BS in Computer Science (MS/PhD in security is a bonus), and hands-on ability to identify security weaknesses and design mitigations. You're comfortable leveraging AI in your development workflow, have excellent collaborative and communication skills, and are willing to work onsite five days per week in San Mateo.
