You'll join as a Staff-level Backend Engineer focused on building Tide's agentic AI platform. This is a high-impact role bridging robust backend systems with generative AI capabilities at scale. You'll design the frameworks, standards, and platforms that enable AI features to scale securely and reliably across the enterprise, influencing long-term technical direction beyond individual feature delivery.
Key responsibilities include:

- Deciding when to integrate third-party components versus building in-house for control and reuse
- Collaborating with product, data, platform, and security teams to productionize shared AI capabilities
- Designing reliable, secure, observable services that other teams can easily adopt
- Shaping reusable engineering patterns for AI-enabled workflows
- Designing and building automated evaluation pipelines to measure agent reasoning accuracy and safety
Required experience: Strong backend or platform engineering in production environments, solid judgment on APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and service design. Experience integrating internal and third-party platforms. Comfort working in ambiguity and translating emerging needs into robust components. Strong focus on quality, reliability, and developer usability.
Valued but not required: AI infrastructure or orchestration experience; experience in regulated industries (fintech, healthtech) where safety and compliance are critical.
Tech stack: Java, Spring Boot, JOOQ for microservices; event-driven architecture with SNS/SQS and Kafka; MySQL/PostgreSQL on AWS RDS/Aurora; Docker, Terraform, EKS; DataDog and Rollbar for observability; GitHub with CI/CD pipelines; Snowflake/Looker for BI; Python/Faust/Flask for ML and decisioning.
Compensation: €68,400–€85,500 gross monthly (negotiable based on expertise). Benefits include 25 days paid leave, 3 volunteer/L&D days, extended parental leave, €500 annual L&D budget, health/dental insurance, mental wellness platform, sports card, food vouchers, and office amenities.
