You'll join as a Staff-level Backend Engineer focused on building Tide's agentic AI platform. This is a company-wide technical leadership role where you'll design and build core services that integrate generative AI capabilities into financial workflows at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect core services for the agentic platform: APIs, workflow orchestration, and tool integration
- Make strategic build-vs-buy decisions, integrating third-party components where they accelerate delivery while building proprietary solutions where control, trust, and reuse are critical
- Collaborate with product, data, platform, and security teams to productionize shared AI capabilities across the organization
- Design services emphasizing reliability, security, observability, and developer adoption
- Establish reusable engineering patterns for AI-enabled workflows
- Build automated evaluation pipelines to measure agent reasoning accuracy and safety
Required experience: Strong backend or platform engineering background in production environments. Expertise in APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and service design. Experience integrating internal and third-party platforms. Comfort operating in ambiguity while translating emerging needs into robust platform components. Strong focus on quality, reliability, and developer usability.
Valued but not required: AI infrastructure or orchestration experience; background in regulated industries (fintech, healthtech) where safety and compliance are core.
Tech stack: Java, Spring Boot, JOOQ for microservices; event-driven architecture (SNS/SQS, Kafka); MySQL, PostgreSQL on AWS RDS/Aurora; Docker, Terraform, EKS; DataDog and Rollbar for observability; GitHub with CI/CD automation; Angular 2+ and Flutter for frontend; Snowflake and Python for data/ML.
