Salary: USD 160,000 - 200,000 / annual
Flex is a growth-stage fintech company headquartered in NYC that is transforming rent payment by enabling users to pay throughout the month on a flexible schedule that fits their finances. As a Staff SDET, you will serve as a technical leader within the Quality Engineering team, shaping quality strategy, standards, and automation frameworks across major products and platforms.
You will define and lead quality strategy and test automation direction for major products, architect and optimize scalable automation frameworks across services, and set best practices for advanced testing methodologies including test data generation and data-driven testing. You'll drive adoption of new tools and emerging technologies to improve testing effectiveness, lead cross-team quality initiatives with significant business impact, and collaborate closely with senior engineering, product, and leadership stakeholders to align quality goals.
Key responsibilities include providing technical leadership and mentorship to SDETs and engineers across multiple teams, identifying and resolving large-scale complex quality challenges while proactively anticipating risks, establishing and enforcing quality standards and documentation across the organization, and analyzing quality metrics and test coverage to drive continuous improvement. You will advocate for a culture of quality and technical excellence throughout the company.
Required qualifications include 8+ years of software quality engineering and test automation experience, expert-level proficiency in multiple programming languages and automation frameworks, and advanced experience architecting scalable automation solutions. You should have expertise in advanced testing methodologies, deep knowledge of CI/CD systems and infrastructure-as-code tools, strong test framework optimization skills, and experience with enterprise-level observability and monitoring tools. Proficiency in complex data analysis and SQL, combined with excellent communication and cross-team mentorship abilities, is essential.
