Veeam Software, the Data and AI Trust Company, is seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to lead system-level and infrastructure testing in their San Jose lab. This is a hands-on technical leadership role bridging physical on-premises hardware dependencies with containerized Kubernetes topologies and cloud edge environments.
You will serve as the technical owner for end-to-end platform stability, hardware/software integration, and deployment verification. Your responsibilities include:
• Building and maintaining end-to-end local test environments in San Jose that mirror edge-to-cloud topologies, hardware interfaces, and localized system deployments
• Architecting local Kubernetes clusters (K3s, Kind, Minikube) and cloud emulator harnesses (AWS LocalStack, Azure Edge) to enable fully offline, system-level validation
• Profiling OS-level resource usage including CPU, memory leaks, I/O bottlenecks, and network latency; running hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and local service-level automated test suites
• Maintaining the physical and virtual San Jose lab environment, building automated orchestration tools to reset, patch, and reconfigure test rigs deterministically
• Collaborating with distributed platform and infrastructure teams to define test strategies and validate edge-to-cloud deployments
Veeam protects over 550,000 customers worldwide and is headquartered in Seattle with offices in more than 30 countries. The company specializes in data resilience and data security posture management, built for the convergence of identity, data, security, and AI risk.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 8+ years in system-level SDET, platform engineering, or embedded/infrastructure software testing
• Advanced programming skills in C++, Python, or Go with strong Linux internals, networking protocols (TCP/IP, sockets), and IPC knowledge
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (production or lab scale), container orchestration, and cloud emulation tools
• Proficiency in test automation frameworks and CI/CD pipeline integration
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing, embedded systems, or edge computing environments
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills at the OS and network layers
