Zscaler is seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer to join the Engineering department in Bangalore on a hybrid basis, reporting to the Sr. Director of Software Engineering. This role sits at the intersection of software design and test engineering, focusing on building the frameworks and tools that verify product quality across the organization.
You will design and develop wide-reaching testing frameworks and tools that impact the entire engineering lifecycle. Your responsibilities include building robust frameworks specifically designed to test complex products, designing tools that influence product quality assurance across teams, and writing high-quality automated code that verifies product performance and reliability. You will often write more test code than product developers themselves, creating infrastructure that scales across the engineering organization.
The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience working on systems or distributed systems with a focus on networking, firewall technologies, and cloud infrastructure. You should have hands-on proficiency in Python or Golang, foundational knowledge of public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and experience with containerization technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and virtual environments. A proven track record of building automated testing frameworks is essential.
Preferred qualifications include deep understanding of TCP/IP protocol stack, HTTP, TLS, PKI, and related networking products like DNS, DHCP, VPN, and HA. Familiarity with security technologies such as firewalls, IPS, and authentication systems, along with advanced expertise in software development lifecycles and development automation, will set you apart.
