Zscaler is seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer to join the Exposure Management & Security Operations department in Pune. This hybrid role reports to the Senior Manager of Software Development Engineering and focuses on building and scaling critical security operations and exposure management infrastructure.
You will be responsible for designing and developing high-quality, scalable, and secure software systems, including microservices and REST/gRPC APIs. Your work will involve designing and implementing distributed systems using messaging, search stores, and cloud storage solutions. You'll collaborate with front-end engineers to deliver APIs that enable user-focused, high-performance interfaces, while also mentoring junior engineers and fostering team growth through knowledge sharing and guidance. Additionally, you'll monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and optimize services with a DevOps mindset.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience leveraging, securing, or positioning AI-driven solutions within your functional domain
- 5+ years of hands-on software application development experience with distributed systems and cloud storage solutions
- Proficiency with Java, Spring frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security), and containerization with Docker or Kubernetes
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP and experience with observability tools like DataDog, Grafana, or Prometheus
- Expertise across the full Software Development Life Cycle, including version control with Git, design, deployment, and system optimization
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience integrating AI/ML model inference, AI security controls, or automated threat intelligence into high-throughput microservices
- Expertise in designing for SLAs, high availability, disaster recovery, and cost optimization
- Background in test-driven development (TDD), Agile workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and relational or NoSQL databases
