Robinhood is seeking a Staff Software Developer to lead the DevX (Developer Infrastructure) team's mission of building and operating core developer infrastructure at scale. You will act as a technical leader architecting long-term strategy for build systems, CI pipelines, and remote development environments that thousands of engineers depend on daily.
Key responsibilities include: architecting and executing the technical roadmap for developer infrastructure (CI, SCM, development environments); building and maintaining robust, scalable systems focused on speed, safety, and reliability; leading strategy for developer onboarding and reducing time-to-first-commit; collaborating across engineering teams to standardize build and CI patterns and eliminate developer friction; and providing technical mentorship through design reviews and operational best practices.
You will need extensive experience designing, scaling, and operating critical developer infrastructure or high-volume build/CI systems in production. Deep expertise in modern build systems (such as Bazel) and distributed/remote build execution is essential, along with strong programming proficiency in Go or Python. You should have a proven track record guiding complex technical initiatives from conception to completion while aligning execution with company objectives. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are critical for advocating tooling adoption, driving improvements, and mentoring engineers.
