Okta's Workforce Identity Cloud Security Engineering group is seeking an experienced Staff Site Reliability Engineer to design and develop security solutions that harden cloud infrastructure at scale. This is a high-impact role bridging Security and Engineering organizations, focused on building technical leverage and influencing the security roadmap. You will act as a technical subject matter expert, identifying infrastructure security gaps and proposing innovative solutions. Key responsibilities include leading security evangelism initiatives to strengthen critical infrastructure posture, responding to production security incidents with root cause analysis, and building automated preventions. You'll identify manual security processes and automate them using custom tooling and CI/CD integrations, develop technical documentation and runbooks for 24x7 operations, and continuously evolve monitoring platforms from simple auditing to active, automated prevention. The role requires deep expertise in securing large-scale GCP and AWS environments with a "security-at-scale" mindset. You'll design and maintain production IAM policies and secrets management workflows, implement Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), ensure GCE/GKE environments meet strict compliance standards, and utilize industry-standard tools like OSQuery, Splunk, Chronicle, Nessus, Qualys, and CrowdStrike for monitoring. You'll lead phased transitions of security policies from audit/detection to blocking/prevention modes while ensuring zero production impact. As a Staff Engineer, you'll serve as a role model, providing technical mentorship to junior team members and fostering a culture of learning and growth. You should have a "see a problem, fix the problem" mindset with the ability to debug complex networking, IAM, or performance issues under pressure.
