Salary: USD 240,000 - 300,000 / annual
Skydio is the leading US autonomous drone company, serving defense, public safety, and enterprise customers. The Cloud Infrastructure team ensures the Skydio Cloud platform remains available and reliable for tens of thousands of drones operating globally—from utility inspections to first responder rescue operations to battlefield scenarios.
As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer, you will own production infrastructure at scale, focusing on Kubernetes, AWS, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, networking, and reliability. This is a hands-on technical role with company-wide infrastructure scope.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building, operating, and troubleshooting production Kubernetes/EKS clusters
- Performing Kubernetes upgrades, node rollouts, and cluster maintenance
- Managing AWS infrastructure (VPCs, networking, subnets, load balancers, IAM, EKS, databases, storage)
- Defining and maintaining infrastructure using Terraform
- Building and operating CI/CD and deployment infrastructure
- Troubleshooting production issues across Kubernetes, AWS, Linux, networking, and databases
- Building monitoring, alerting, and observability for critical infrastructure
- Participating in on-call rotations and responding to production incidents
- Identifying and solving infrastructure scaling and reliability problems
- Automating operational work using Python, Go, or similar languages
- Expanding infrastructure across new regions and deployment environments
You should have 8+ years as a Site Reliability Engineer, Platform Engineer, DevOps, Production Engineer, or equivalent role. Strong hands-on Kubernetes experience (not just deploying to existing clusters) and AWS fundamentals are essential. Production experience with Terraform, CI/CD systems (Argo CD, Spinnaker, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins), and infrastructure troubleshooting is required. Bonus experience includes Helm, GitOps, Datadog, PostgreSQL operations, multi-region infrastructure, on-premises/disconnected deployments, and distributed systems.
