Join Lightspeed Commerce as a Staff Site Reliability Engineer on the Data team in Montreal. You will be the technical backbone of the Data Office's infrastructure platform, solving systemic, platform-level problems across the entire Data Business Unit. Your scope spans reliability, scalability, and developer experience of the data platform, acting as a force multiplier for engineers and systems.
Your time allocation: 70% hands-on engineering and platform ownership—designing and delivering significant infrastructure improvements, writing production-quality Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and leading solutions from design through delivery. You'll own data infrastructure for batch and streaming workloads, ML/AI environments (Vertex AI, model serving, GPU-backed compute), and the BI serving layer (Looker infrastructure and GCP integration). 10% team coordination and technical leadership—leading architecture discussions, reviewing critical pull requests, and driving solution design sessions. 10% general meetings—leading agile ceremonies, incident reviews, and cross-functional syncs. 10% mentorship and technical review—actively mentoring Senior and Intermediate SREs, setting the bar for IaC quality, observability practices, and operational discipline.
You bring deep GCP expertise and a product mindset to data infrastructure. Required skills include deep expertise across GCP compute, networking, IAM, GKE, data services, and FinOps; Terraform proficiency; hands-on experience with Looker infrastructure and ML/AI platform tooling; proficiency in Bash and Golang (Python a plus); strong experience with metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and SLO/SLI design using DataDog; and ability to communicate infrastructure trade-offs to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders. You'll also participate in on-call rotation and incident response, proactively identify risks in complex data migrations, and contribute to organization-wide objectives.
