Altruist is an AI-powered platform transforming wealth management by empowering financial advisors to grow their practices, optimize resources, and deliver superior client outcomes. The company is in an exceptional growth phase and seeks a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to join the Platform team.
In this role, you will focus on performance and resilience of robust backend systems across all product teams, collaborating closely with engineering leadership, product managers, and cross-functional teams to solve challenging technical problems. You will contribute to shared infrastructure solutions that benefit the entire organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Mentor and guide teams in implementing secure coding practices to ensure code is performant and resilient against security vulnerabilities
- Implement best-practice observability using Open Telemetry, logging, and standard SLOs
- Own the incident response process design and follow-ups
- Employ automated testing practices to ensure high-quality code
You bring 7+ years of experience building scalable backend services at B2B financial services, fintech, or SaaS organizations. Required technical skills include proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs; expertise in microservices architecture and distributed systems; strong SQL knowledge (Postgres, MySQL); and familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm. You understand the importance of performant and reliable systems and possess strong communication skills with an ego-less confidence and creative problem-solving approach.
Bonus qualifications include expertise with AI (Claude) best practices, AWS cloud infrastructure proficiency, experience managing tabletop exercises, CI/CD pipeline experience with GitLab, familiarity with Terraform, Debezium, Temporal, and Open Telemetry, and knowledge of brokerage platforms and financial services industry.
This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco (FiDi) or Los Angeles (Culver City), with an expectation of being in the office at least three days per week.
