Snowflake is seeking a Staff Security Engineer to join the Enterprise Security team, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust endpoint security solutions at enterprise scale. This role sits at the intersection of security engineering and software development, protecting Snowflake's infrastructure, employees, and customers across a complex multi-cloud, multi-SaaS environment.
Key responsibilities include developing and scaling endpoint security solutions (EDR, DLP, secure browser, MDM, AI security) while owning the technical roadmap for endpoint security tooling. You will build intelligent security platforms and automate security operations using AI and software engineering principles, identifying opportunities to reduce toil and increase detection fidelity. The role involves monitoring security events, investigating incidents, and building real-time detection and prevention systems to protect against endpoint compromise and data exfiltration.
You will conduct regular risk and threat analyses to proactively identify and remediate vulnerabilities, apply zero-trust principles to reduce attack surface, and develop unified security policies aligned with regulatory frameworks. Cross-functional partnership with Security, Engineering, IT, and Product teams is essential to define endpoint security strategy and drive secure engineering practices. As a Staff-level engineer, you will mentor team members, introduce new techniques and adversarial perspectives, and continuously advance the team's security engineering craft.
Required qualifications include 5+ years of hands-on information security experience (security engineering, threat intelligence/detection, or incident response) with strong endpoint security focus. You must have proficiency in software development using Python, Go, Java, C, C++, or JavaScript, with strong AI-assisted development experience. Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and maintaining endpoint security tools across Windows, macOS, and Linux is essential, along with strong understanding of operating systems, network protocols, and endpoint security concepts. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience) is required.
Bonus qualifications include master's degree in related field, experience with AWS/GCP/Azure infrastructure and enterprise SaaS platforms at scale, relevant certifications (CISSP, CEH, Security+), and demonstrated ability to communicate complex security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences including executives.
