Anduril Industries is a defense technology company building advanced autonomous systems and AI-powered command and control capabilities for military applications. The Air Defense team develops networked sensors and effectors that detect, track, identify, and defeat unmanned aerial systems (UAS) threats.
In this Staff RF Engineer role, you will architect, design, integrate, and test communications networks across platforms and systems with a focus on Command and Control (C2) systems. You will design, configure, simulate, and evaluate wireless tactical networking equipment, topologies, systems, and datalinks. You will architect waveforms and systems to connect autonomous and human-operated systems, and lead electrical integration of communications systems along with avionics modules and payloads into UAVs, ground vehicles, weapons systems, and C2 systems.
You will support other functional engineering teams' development efforts with deep understanding of wireless networks, communications, system impacts, and trades. You will represent communications and networking sub-systems in vehicle-level cross-disciplinary trade-off studies that define and optimize the design of various vehicles and systems and the environments in which they operate.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring expertise in RF circuit design, RF propagation, link budgets, digital communications, and system-level integration. You will work with RF test equipment, develop test automation, and conduct hardware evaluation. The role requires 25% travel and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred)
- 10+ years of experience with communication systems architecture and design for high reliability, resiliency, redundancy, and/or fault tolerance
- Understanding of RF circuit design including noise figure analysis, frequency synthesis, modulation, AGC, antenna matching, power amplifier biasing, and filtering
- Strong grasp of RF propagation, link budgets, and digital communications (modulation, FEC, spread spectrum, multiple access)
- Hands-on experience integrating and troubleshooting radios on vehicles or platforms
- Working knowledge of EMI/EMC and system-level integration issues (MIL-STD-461/464)
- Proficiency with RF test equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscope) and test automation
- Understanding of hardware evaluation methodologies, including development of test cases/suites, performance monitoring, test automation, and data analysis
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding and familiarity with DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160
- Understanding and familiarity with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-882
- Experience designing sensitive RF circuits
- Basic understanding of RF frequency regulations
- Experience with practical network configuration and troubleshooting
- Experience with network modeling and simulation
- Knowledge of integration and implementation of network security and its impact on network design
- Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics
- Proficiency in Python for test automation and data analysis
- Experience with automation of tests in both development and production environments
- Proficiency with a variety of vendors of wireless networking equipment
