Anthropic is seeking a Staff Researcher to join the Claude Security team, responsible for identifying, measuring, and operationalizing AI security capabilities in frontier models. The role bridges research and product, focusing on determining which model capabilities are reliable enough for real-world security work and how to make them accessible to non-expert users. Key responsibilities include: rapidly prototyping to define the AI frontier for cybersecurity applications; designing rigorous evaluations that measure model performance on actual security team workflows; building datasets, evaluation harnesses, and scoring systems; engaging with the cybersecurity community to identify high-impact use cases; collaborating with engineers to operationalize capabilities into customer-ready products; tracking how model capabilities evolve; and informing product direction through research findings. Ideal candidates bring deep expertise in security domains such as vulnerability research, exploit development, reverse engineering, malware analysis, incident response, or offensive security. Experience building AI-powered security tools, rapid prototyping skills, ability to design and interpret rigorous evaluations, and strong technical communication are essential. The role requires 7+ years in security research, security engineering, or related fields. Strong additional qualifications include published research, CTF results, CVEs, or open-source security tooling; experience with model evaluation, benchmarking, or red teaming; agentic application development; and familiarity with AI safety considerations in security contexts. This is a research role with broad scope and significant latitude to investigate new directions in AI-assisted cybersecurity.
