LeoLabs is building a global radar network and AI-enabled analytics platform for space domain awareness, tracking over 25,000 objects in low Earth orbit. The company provides radar-powered intelligence to protect assets, monitor adversarial behavior, and ensure safe operations for commercial and government space missions. As a Staff Radar Systems Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for the design, integration, testing, and operational deployment of advanced radar capabilities. You will define system requirements, evaluate radar performance, support mission execution, and drive cross-functional engineering efforts across hardware, software, signal processing, and operations teams. Key responsibilities include leading radar systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle (requirements, architecture, integration, verification, validation, operations); developing and maintaining radar system software, performance models, and technical documentation; evaluating radar performance against mission objectives and identifying optimization opportunities; supporting system design reviews and customer engagements; collaborating with software, hardware, RF, signal processing, and operations teams; performing trade studies and technical assessments; developing test plans and supporting laboratory, field, and operational testing; analyzing system anomalies and leading root-cause investigations; providing technical expertise to government customers; and mentoring junior engineers. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or related field; 10+ years of experience in radar systems engineering or related defense/aerospace environments; demonstrated expertise in radar system architecture, integration, testing, and performance analysis; strong understanding of radar principles, RF systems, signal processing, and sensor performance characterization; experience developing system requirements and verification methodologies; experience with electronic protection techniques; strong analytical and technical leadership skills; and U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree in Engineering or Physics; experience implementing adaptive beamforming algorithms; phased-array radar systems experience; support for DoD, Intelligence Community, or Space Force programs; experience with orbital and non-orbital tracking methods; knowledge of space domain awareness and missile warning; and an active U.S. security clearance.
