LeoLabs is building a global radar network and AI-enabled analytics platform for space domain awareness, tracking over 25,000 objects in low Earth orbit. The company protects billions in assets, monitors adversarial behavior, and ensures safe operations for commercial and government space missions. As a Staff Radar Systems Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for the design, integration, testing, and operational deployment of advanced radar capabilities. You will define system requirements, evaluate radar performance, support mission execution, and drive cross-functional engineering efforts across hardware, software, signal processing, and operations teams. Key responsibilities include leading radar systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle (requirements, architecture, integration, verification, validation, operations); developing and maintaining radar system software, performance models, and technical documentation; evaluating radar performance against mission objectives and identifying optimization opportunities; supporting system design reviews and customer engagements; collaborating with software, hardware, RF, and signal processing teams; performing trade studies and technical assessments; developing test plans and supporting laboratory and field testing; analyzing system anomalies and leading root-cause investigations; providing technical expertise to government customers; and mentoring junior engineers. Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or related field; 10+ years in radar systems engineering, sensor systems engineering, or defense/aerospace environments; demonstrated experience with radar system architecture, integration, testing, and performance analysis; strong understanding of radar principles, RF systems, signal processing, and sensor performance characterization; experience developing system requirements and verification methodologies; experience with electronic protection techniques; strong analytical, communication, and technical leadership skills; U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain security clearance. Preferred: Advanced degree in Engineering or Physics; experience with adaptive beamforming algorithms; phased-array radar systems experience; DoD, Intelligence Community, or Space Force program support; tracking methods experience for orbital/non-orbital objects; space domain awareness or missile warning knowledge; active security clearance.
