Salary: USD 220,000 - 292,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Staff Propulsion Engineer to join the Air Dominance & Strike Propulsion Integration team, responsible for designing and integrating advanced hardware for Group 5 air vehicles and missile platforms. This is a senior technical leadership role where you will own the full development lifecycle from concept through flight test, ensuring high-performance, resilient mechanical systems for contested environments.
Key responsibilities include: serving as a lead technical contributor in the selection, architecture, and integration of Solid Rocket Motors (SRMs), ignition systems, and Thrust Vector Control (TVC) systems; designing, fabricating, and testing prototype components and structural interfaces; planning and executing ground static fire, environmental, and integration tests; coordinating with SRM vendors and managing development projects; leading critical hardware demonstrations with customers; and contributing to CAD design for structural integration, motor cases, nozzles, and aerodynamic interfaces.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering; 12+ years of propulsion engineering experience on tactical missiles, launch vehicles, or air vehicles; professional experience with SRMs for defense or aerospace; demonstrated experience leading integration of solid rocket propulsion systems and acting as technical authority for major subsystems; expertise utilizing and customizing internal ballistics codes and propellant burn-back models; experience defining comprehensive propulsion test programs and troubleshooting anomalies; CAD design skills with ability to perform design reviews; understanding of manufacturing methods including machining, composites, high-temperature materials, and 3D printing; and eligibility to obtain and maintain active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include: experience with NX/Teamcenter, Python, MATLAB; hands-on solid rocket motor testing experience; prior work at an SRM OEM or supplier; knowledge of TVC systems, Ignition Safety Devices, ordnance systems, and telemetry/flight termination systems; experience with sensitive munition testing; and active U.S. Top Secret security clearance. Travel to vendor sites, test sites, and test ranges is required.
