PsiQuantum is building the first useful quantum computers using silicon photonics architecture. The company has secured $1 billion in funding (2025), a $100 million Letter of Intent from the U.S. Department of Commerce under the CHIPS and Science Act, and a $125 million DARPA agreement. PsiQuantum is constructing utility-scale quantum systems in Brisbane, Australia and Chicago, and partners with Fortune 500 companies including Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Mitsubishi Chemical.
This Staff Project Manager role leads cross-functional development and delivery of complex silicon photonics systems from engineering development through system integration, qualification, manufacturing, and production. The position coordinates execution across silicon photonics, hardware, firmware, software, mechanical/thermal engineering, systems engineering, test, supply chain, and manufacturing, while managing dependencies with vendors and external partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead integrated program planning and execution across all engineering disciplines and manufacturing phases
- Develop and manage program schedules, milestones, critical paths, dependencies, risks, and engineering deliverables
- Coordinate prototype and product builds, including material readiness, procurement, BOMs, long-lead components, and build schedules
- Drive cross-functional execution with engineering, supply chain, procurement, operations, manufacturing, vendors, and external partners
- Manage product and build documentation, configuration control, engineering changes, requirements, test plans, and manufacturing readiness
- Lead program reviews, build-readiness reviews, vendor reviews, and risk management; develop clear presentations and status reports for engineering and executive leadership
- Drive programs from prototype and integration through EVT/DVT, qualification, NPI, and production ramp, ensuring actions, issues, and technical dependencies are driven to closure
The ideal candidate combines strong technical understanding with disciplined program execution and has experience delivering complex hardware/software products through the full product lifecycle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline with significant experience managing complex multidisciplinary engineering and product-development programs
- Demonstrated experience delivering hardware-intensive products involving HW, FW, SW, system integration, and manufacturing
- Strong experience managing engineering builds, integrated schedules, procurement, BOM/material readiness, vendors, supply chain, contract manufacturers, and NTI/NPI development
- Ability to understand technical dependencies, identify critical-path risks, and work effectively with engineering teams without needing to be the subject-matter expert in every discipline
- Experience with silicon photonics, optical systems, semiconductor products, networking hardware, embedded systems, or other complex electro-optical products is highly desirable
- Strong organizational, written, verbal, and executive presentation skills required
