Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company building the energy and compute backbone for the world's most ambitious AI workloads. The company owns and operates every layer of the stack—from power generation to cloud services—with an energy-first approach to solving AI compute bottlenecks. The Production Engineering team at Crusoe is responsible for ensuring reliability and performance of the company's infrastructure through proactive monitoring, automation, and continuous improvement. This Staff-level role focuses on detecting, analyzing, and preventing issues to maintain high Service Level Agreements (SLAs) via Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs). Key responsibilities include: - Capacity planning and growth collaboration with Engineering and Product teams to analyze network capacity and co-develop data center expansion plans - Tier 1 troubleshooting for switch provisioning, server build failures, and complex network defects at the physical layer - Site build operations including console DNS mapping, connectivity verification, automation script validation, and network audits - Hardware management and RMA process oversight for network equipment failures - Layer 1 optical network troubleshooting using OTDR testing - Partnering with data center and network engineering teams on structural cabling for large-scale expansions - Leading operational excellence projects to address recurring network issues - Network analysis, link stability assessment, and optimization recommendations - Participation in internal working groups to evaluate and adopt new technologies Required qualifications include 5+ years of production engineering experience, 5+ years contributing to architecture and design of systems, and a BS in Computer Science or equivalent. Strong technical foundation in infrastructure design, modern tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible), CI/CD practices, logging/monitoring systems, Unix/Linux, TCP/IP, and information security is essential. Networking expertise is critical: solid understanding of IP subnetting, Layer 2/3 networking, VLANs, routing, and 2+ years with protocols like BGP, MPLS, L3VPN, and multicast. Candidates should have 2+ years as a Network Engineer for a content or network provider and experience with data center architectures (CLOS) and structured cabling (SMF, MMF). Bonus qualifications include advanced degree in Computer Science or Engineering, 2+ years Python/Perl scripting, experience with Ansible/REST/gRPC/NETCONF, and advanced network troubleshooting acumen.
