Aptible is a cloud delivery platform that automates security, compliance, and reliability for engineering teams building applications in highly regulated industries. Since 2014, the company has served customers handling sensitive data and is now positioning itself as the secure PaaS for the AI-native era, supporting both traditional and generative/agentic applications. Aptible recently joined Opti9 Technologies, gaining resources to accelerate platform development.
As Staff Product Manager for Acquisition, you will own the strategy, roadmap, and feature definition that drives new customer growth. You will partner closely with engineering, design, and marketing teams to both create value for customers and capture value for the business. This role is accountable for two categories of outcomes:
Quantitative Business Outcomes:
- Product signups and new product-led customer conversions
- Count of customers using features delivered against the Acquisition roadmap (LLM Gateway and PaaS)
- New ARR generated from Acquisition roadmap features
Qualitative Role-Based Outcomes:
Discovery: Define the discovery process and align stakeholders around it. Collaborate with engineering and design to identify and validate product risk—de-risking value (will users use or buy it?) and business viability (does it work for our business?). Define a clear roadmap of product bets.
Delivery: Define product requirements based on discovery outcomes. Empower engineering and design to build and ship. Provide marketing and customer success with foundational resources including pricing, ICP, and documentation.
Analytics: Define data sources and success metrics in collaboration with BizOps. Analyze adoption, engagement, and usage patterns to inform ongoing strategy.
You will operate in a small, highly collaborative environment where you drive direction, take ownership of blockers, and navigate ambiguity. The role requires balancing strategic thinking about go-to-market positioning with hands-on execution and customer empathy. You'll work alongside a tight-knit team that values genuine ownership and lasting impact.
APTIBLE CONTEXT
Aptible has been operating profitably for over a decade with real customers and a real product. The company is not chasing hypergrowth but rather navigating meaningful change in how cloud infrastructure and DevOps must evolve to handle AI-assisted development. The team prioritizes diversity and inclusion and values people who want to find answers collaboratively rather than those who think they have all the answers already.
REQUIREMENTS
Overall Professional Experience:
- 10+ years of experience as a Product Manager
- 3+ years of experience in the PaaS / Developer Tools space, either as a Product Manager or in a relevant role (e.g., Software Engineer). You must be able to speak the language of technical customers without requiring engineering team translation.
Startup Compatibility:
- Driver Mindset: Motivated to steer direction for a small, collaborative team. You identify blockers, take ownership, and drive to get unblocked.
- Going 0 → 1: Eager to find and interview customers or use judgment and market research to understand customer needs. High empathy for listening and understanding. Comfortable being scrappy and experimental (design, prototypes, surveys) to figure out what's worth building. Able to navigate early-stage ambiguity.
- Strategic Sense: Real experience operating in fast-evolving landscapes. You know how to make progress when the ground shifts every few months and can position products strategically with go-to-market thinking.
Core Competencies:
- Execution: Keep all stakeholders aligned around one vision, strategy, and roadmap.
- Impact: Track record of setting and hitting aggressive goals that move core metrics.
- Ownership: Hold yourself and the team accountable in all conditions without excuses.
- Product Judgment & Intuition: Bring together insights to design and build the best product experience.
- Technical Translation: Speak fluently about technical features with technical customers, identify X/Y problems, and synthesize low-level feedback into strategic direction.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with all stakeholders.
Location: Must be located in the contiguous United States.
