Graphcore is seeking a Staff Power Integrity Engineer to lead the design and optimization of power-delivery architecture for its high-performance AI compute systems. This role spans voltage regulation, package design, PCB layout, and silicon-level power delivery.
In this position, you will provide technical leadership on Graphcore's most complex power-delivery challenges, with your analysis and judgment directly influencing architecture and product decisions. Key responsibilities include:
- Define modelling strategies and optimize decoupling across power-delivery networks
- Analyze PDN impedance, voltage droop, transient response, and regulator interactions
- Translate complex technical results into clear engineering decisions, requirements, and sign-off approaches
- Lead significant power-integrity issues through resolution, driving alignment across silicon, package, board, power, systems, and validation teams
- Develop reusable methods and mentor engineers to raise power-integrity capability across the organization
- Challenge assumptions, communicate risk clearly, and help teams make pragmatic trade-offs
The Signal and Power Integrity team sits at the center of Graphcore's hardware development, working across disciplines to understand electrical behavior and guide consequential architecture decisions. Technical influence matters more than reporting lines; you will own complex problems and drive them to resolution grounded in modelling, first-principles reasoning, hardware evidence, and clear assessment of uncertainty.
Graphcore is part of the SoftBank Group and is developing hardware, software, and systems infrastructure for next-generation AI compute. The company brings together AI research specialists, silicon designers, software engineers, and systems architects to solve complex problems in AI infrastructure.
Requirements:
- Deep practical expertise in power integrity and complex power-delivery network design
- Strong understanding of PDN impedance, transient behavior, voltage droop, resonance, stability, and decoupling across high-current digital systems
- Ability to reason across silicon, package, PCB, voltage regulation, and system boundaries
- Strong capability in electromagnetic modelling, circuit simulation, model extraction, and selecting appropriate abstraction methods
- Engineering judgment to assess model validity, uncertainty, and sensitivity, then translate analysis into architecture and product decisions
- Ability to lead ambiguous technical work, influence across engineering disciplines, improve methodology, and develop other engineers
- Legal right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available)
