Salary: USD 172,800 - 216,000 / annual
Archer Technologies is building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise. As Staff Power Engineer for Inverter, you will own the design and development of high-voltage, high-power-density motor controllers and all power electronics systems for this all-electric aircraft platform.
Your responsibilities span the full hardware lifecycle: from specification and schematic design through PCB layout, prototype verification, reliability validation, and manufacturing support. You will design MOSFET gate drive circuits, electronic power supplies, and sensing circuits; conduct EMC testing and analysis; and optimize passive components in power electronics systems. You'll lead new designs from conception to production, working cross-functionally with multidisciplinary teams.
Key technical areas include inverter technology for variable-speed motor drives (MOSFET, rectifiers, PWM gate drivers), passive power devices (inductors, capacitors, transformers), power converter architectures (AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC), motor control and commutation methods, wide-bandgap device gate drive design (SiC/GaN), and system-level integration. You will perform circuit design analyses including worst-case analysis, fault analysis, and lifetime estimation, and master lab instruments such as oscilloscopes and EMC analyzers.
This is a senior individual contributor role with significant technical scope and influence over power electronics architecture across the aircraft platform. You will mentor junior engineers and guide technical decisions, but the focus is deep expertise and ownership rather than people management.
