Fanatics Markets is a real-money prediction and trading platform enabling users to invest in and trade on real-world outcomes across sports, entertainment, politics, and beyond. As a Staff Platform Engineer, you will operate with broad organizational impact, setting technical direction and designing durable platform abstractions that enable rapid innovation without compromising stability, security, or compliance. You will lead complex cross-team initiatives, establish best-in-class platform standards, and mentor engineers while remaining directly involved in building and operating core platform capabilities. This role blends deep hands-on engineering expertise with systems thinking and organizational influence. Key responsibilities include defining enterprise-wide standards for AI integration and prompt engineering patterns; identifying and mitigating AI-generated code pitfalls such as security vulnerabilities and over-abstraction; leading the design and evolution of highly available, scalable infrastructure; architecting robust CI/CD ecosystems and developer tooling; serving as a subject matter expert for platform security and compliance; driving the strategic roadmap for system observability with advanced monitoring and alerting; acting as a technical liaison between engineering, product, and quantitative teams; and fostering a culture of high performance through mentoring and incident response leadership. The role emphasizes practical experience with AI-augmented development workflows. You should have actively shipped production code using Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools, with strong opinions backed by real experience about how these tools impact development velocity and code quality. Required qualifications: 8+ years in platform engineering or DevOps with proven track record architecting scalable, high-availability cloud-native environments (AWS/Kubernetes); expert proficiency using AI collaborators to ship production code with documented ability to optimize personal and team workflows; demonstrated capability to articulate pros/cons of various AI tools and implement rigorous validation strategies.
