AlphaSense is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to own and evolve the Core Cloud Platform that underpins the entire company's infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of operational excellence and software engineering, requiring both deep technical expertise and the ability to influence across dozens of engineering teams.
You will be responsible for AlphaSense's cloud infrastructure spanning AWS account management, networking, storage, and Kubernetes clusters that support 400+ globally distributed engineers. The platform serves as the foundation for hundreds of microservices and must scale reliably as the company grows.
Key responsibilities include: architecting and maintaining the cloud and Kubernetes platform; continuously improving security, reliability, cost efficiency, and performance; championing standardization to eliminate duplication; enabling product teams to build and own their services; collaborating with SRE and DevEx teams to create a coherent platform; designing self-service and agentic workflow patterns; building AI-powered tooling to reduce operational cognitive load; and providing support to a globally distributed engineering organization.
You should have extensive production experience running Kubernetes and cloud-based SaaS systems at scale. Deep expertise in AWS, Kubernetes architecture, networking (including service meshes and gateways), and strong operational troubleshooting skills are essential. Proficiency in Python and Golang for infrastructure tooling, Kubernetes operators, or control plane components is required. You should be an evangelist for high-performance CI/CD practices and have the ability to design, lead, and deliver ambitious technical roadmaps.
Nice-to-have skills include management of large Kubernetes cluster fleets with lifecycle tools (CAPI, Rancher), production experience with HashiCorp Vault or similar secret management, and knowledge of GCP or Azure. The ideal candidate genuinely embraces AI tooling and is motivated to make infrastructure increasingly AI-friendly.
