Veeam is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to join the Veeam Data Cloud (VDC) engineering team, working on the FedRAMP-compliant version of their SaaS product. The Platform Engineering team's mission is to provide a secure, reliable, and easy-to-use platform that enables teams to build, test, deploy, and monitor the VDC product. You will help build and maintain the software that automates software delivery and orchestrates infrastructure.
This is a software engineering role focused on infrastructure, tooling, developer experience, and software delivery—not a traditional DevOps position. At the Staff level, you will set technical direction for the platform, take on problems that cross team boundaries, and raise the bar for how the entire engineering organization ships software.
Key responsibilities include:
- Write and maintain code to automate public cloud infrastructure, software delivery pipelines, and enablement tools
- Write and maintain code for internally consumed platform services
- Set technical direction for the platform: lead design on multi-quarter, cross-team initiatives and make build-versus-buy and architecture decisions
- Identify high-leverage problems in developer experience and delivery that no single team owns, and drive them to solution
- Raise the technical bar across the team through design review, code review, and mentoring
- Partner with product engineering, security, and compliance to optimize the FedRAMP environment
- Document system design, configurations, processes, and decisions to support async, distributed team culture
- Collaborate with remote engineers using a modern tech stack: containers, serverless infrastructure, Kubernetes, Golang, Vue, public cloud services
Veeam is the Data and AI Trust Company, headquartered in Seattle with offices in 30+ countries, protecting over 550,000 customers worldwide. The company specializes in data resilience and data security posture management.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time building platform, infrastructure, or developer tooling as a software product
- Track record of technical leadership at scope beyond a single team—designs owned end-to-end, engineers who grew because you were there
- Experience automating infrastructure through code using Pulumi or Terraform
- Experience with GitHub Actions
- Breadth and depth of public cloud services experience, especially Azure
- Understanding of operational excellence principles
- Experience building and supporting enterprise SaaS products
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and implement pragmatically
- Ability to scope down complex technical problems and not get blocked by decisions or dependencies
- Strong programming ability in at least one language (Go, Python, Java, C/C++, etc.); Go is the primary platform language
- Understanding and experience implementing secure design principles in the cloud
- Strong bias toward action and direct, frequent communication
- Comfortable and competent in written communication, both technical and other
- Passionate about automation
