Nango (YC W23) is a developer infrastructure company providing API access for agents and applications, enabling AI systems to connect to the real world through integrations. With 400+ paying customers including Replit, Ramp, Mercor, and Vapi, and a team of 14 from top companies like AWS, GitHub, and Okta, Nango is a multi-million ARR company seeking a Staff Platform Engineer.
In this critical role, you will own Nango's cloud infrastructure end-to-end, including compute, networking, and the data layer. You'll lead the BYOC (Bring Your Own Cloud) and private cloud deployment initiatives, transforming customer-cloud deployments from bespoke work into a scalable product with automated provisioning, upgrades, and observability. A key responsibility is operationalizing and productizing the company's Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps foundations to enable a small team to ship quickly and reliably as the company scales.
You'll establish reliability as a product feature through meaningful SLOs and a trustworthy incident process. You'll lead the data layer strategy across Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch, and ClickHouse at growing scale. Additionally, you'll own the infrastructure side of security and compliance, including SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, and enterprise security reviews. As a senior technical leader, you'll help shape the company roadmap and strategy with high ownership of key decisions.
You bring 10+ years of staff-level experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles, with proven ability to run high-traffic production systems. You have deep production Kubernetes expertise and understand when it's not the right tool. You've operated software in environments you don't control—BYOC, single-tenant, on-prem, or air-gapped deployments. You're deeply fluent in AWS (where Nango currently runs) with exposure to GCP and Azure. Terraform is your native working mode, with expertise in modules, state management, and multi-account topologies. Databases are a genuine strength, especially Postgres—you excel at performance optimization, migrations under load, and replication. You have real compliance exposure from SOC 2 or ISO audits, penetration tests, and security reviews, and you can distinguish substance from theater. You have a product mindset and genuine developer empathy, able to read a customer issue and build the fix. You're a strong communicator, proactive, and reliable in remote-first environments. You're pragmatic, positive, and low-ego—stepping up in incidents and unblocking teammates. You're startup-ready: autonomous, ownership-driven, and comfortable navigating ambiguity. You're based in North America, LATAM, or Europe.
