You will join the photonics design team as a Staff-level engineer responsible for designing and laying out block- and chip-scale photonic circuits. Working across photonics, product, architecture, analog, digital, and packaging teams, you'll shepherd photonic products from clean-sheet concept through tapeout and bring-up. You'll leverage proprietary photonics integration and verification flows to ensure all blocks and circuits meet performance targets.
Key responsibilities include: understanding product requirements and identifying optimal photonics solutions; performing clean-sheet design and layout of photonic circuits; collaborating with analog, digital, and packaging teams on seamless integration; conducting rigorous layout-driven photonic simulation and verification; developing and improving photonic layout and verification flows across multiple processes and foundries; contributing to proprietary PDK development; solving complex problems on photonic chip designs and architectures; and publishing novel results at premier optics/photonics conferences.
You'll need MS + 10 years or PhD + 3 years of industry experience in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or related field. Essential qualifications include deep understanding of silicon photonics fundamentals, familiarity with silicon photonics devices and their performance metrics, Python proficiency, experience with script-based photonic circuit design using GDSFactory or similar tools, and a demonstrated track record of multiple photonic tapeouts. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams are critical, as is the ability to work independently on both highly constrained and loosely defined problems.
Preferred qualifications include experience with product-grade photonic tapeouts, foundry and custom PDKs, photonic/analog circuit design in Cadence Virtuoso, and strong project execution skills managing multiple priorities and milestones.
