Salary: USD 220,000 - 292,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Staff Optical Test & Calibration Engineer to join the Warfighter Systems division, which is developing advanced mixed reality (MR) systems for military applications. The EagleEye system integrates real-time data with cutting-edge visualization to provide warfighters with enhanced situational awareness and operational superiority.
In this role, you will lead the development and optimization of advanced display test and calibration processes and station architectures for near-to-eye displays used in mixed reality systems. You'll work across the full lifecycle from R&D through production scaling, managing complex optical test stations and supplier relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading integration and test for novel optical test stations focused on near-to-eye displays
- Procuring optical elements from suppliers with technical oversight, acceptance testing, and anomaly resolution
- Developing display test stations from requirements through vendor build, installation, and qualification at contract manufacturers
- Creating alignment plans and procedures for optical test equipment
- Managing integration and test vendors to scale production of complex display assemblies
- Transitioning products from R&D to production through rigorous test procedures and data analysis
- Qualifying measurement capability through Gauge R&R, MSA, and measurement uncertainty analysis
- Analyzing prototype and production optical system performance errors to determine root causes
- Supporting NPI builds on-site and providing rapid-response test support during production ramp
Required qualifications include a BS in Optical Engineering or related field, production-ready optical test station delivery experience, knowledge of image quality metrics and data analysis, and demonstrated experience in optical systems integration and testing. You must be comfortable with 25% domestic and international travel to vendor and manufacturer sites.
Preferred qualifications include an MS in Optical Science/Engineering, statistical fluency with advanced quality methods (Gauge R&R, MSA, SPC, DOE), experience with diffraction-limited imaging systems, optical tolerancing expertise, and demonstrated team leadership and mentoring experience.
