Eight Sleep is seeking an experienced Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead new product development from concept through production. You'll architect and design complex electromechanical systems integrating plastic, metal, soft goods components with novel sensors and actuators. The role spans the entire development lifecycle: brainstorming, CAD modeling, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing ramp in Asia.
You'll drive cross-functional collaboration with industrial design, marketing, product, electrical, software, reliability, and manufacturing engineering teams. You'll perform thermal, fluid, and structural analysis to ensure designs meet product goals and shape product direction by working closely with company leadership.
Required qualifications: 8+ years of consumer product design experience with expertise in injection molding, sheet metal forming, and sensor/electronics integration. Proven track record shipping high-volume consumer products with manufacturing support in Asia; willingness to travel to China as needed. Advanced proficiency with 3D modeling and simulation tools (Solidworks, NX, Creo). Strong knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes, DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, GD&T, root cause analysis, and DOE methodologies. BSME or equivalent required; MS preferred.
