Form Energy is hiring a Staff Manufacturing Engineer to join the cathode advanced manufacturing team at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV. This is a high-impact role designing and specifying automation for high-volume assembly processes while coordinating and directing a broader group of manufacturing engineers through commissioning and handoff to production operations. You will own the complete design, sourcing, and commissioning of high-volume assembly operations including conveyance systems, mechanical joining and welding, vision systems, and high-volume inspection systems. You'll engage early with product design teams to influence design for manufacturability (DFM) for new product generations, generate and maintain DFMEAs to drive equipment design decisions, and own risk management and burndown. As team lead for a group of manufacturing engineers, you'll coordinate and direct their work across shared projects or production lines. You'll define automation, electrical, and controls requirements while collaborating with internal and external controls partners, and manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables for your defined scope. Production of iron-air batteries is underway at the Weirton facility, and the company is scaling rapidly with contracts signed with leading electric utilities across the United States. Relocation assistance is available. The facility is an easy commute from Pittsburgh, PA. REQUIREMENTS: - 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with demonstrated experience introducing novel equipment and automated systems into a production environment - Strong mechanical design and 3D CAD skills; experience designing high-volume automation cells incorporating complex conveyance, multi-axis robots and gantries, and custom end-of-arm tools (EOATs) - Working knowledge of controls and electrical engineering, with the ability to translate requirements between disciplines - Working knowledge of vision systems, with hands-on experience strongly preferred - Experience with a range of mechanical and adhesive joining and welding methods strongly preferred - Strong project management and organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to coordinate and direct the work of other engineers - Degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or electrical engineering
