Archer Technologies is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California, building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers while producing minimal noise. The company is scaling production of its cutting-edge aircraft and seeks a Staff Manufacturing Engineer to join the Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) team.
In this role, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for defining and scaling Archer's aircraft design and production strategy, supporting aircraft builds from prototype through early production ramp. You will drive the manufacturing strategy for aircraft assembly and integration, working cross-functionally with Design, Quality, Supply Chain, and Certification teams to establish best-in-class manufacturing solutions for both current and future aircraft platforms.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting the manufacturing strategy for aircraft build-up and integration, defining build plans and methods for next-generation aircraft programs currently in design
- Leading development and implementation of scalable aircraft manufacturing processes, transitioning from prototype builds to high-rate production
- Serving as the technical authority for aircraft structural assembly, guiding design teams on manufacturability, process capability, and production readiness
- Establishing requirements for tooling strategies, fixtures, and production systems to enable efficient and repeatable aircraft assembly
- Participating in cross-functional initiatives to ensure manufacturing solutions meet regulatory and company requirements
- Preparing plans for process validation, build readiness reviews, and first-article builds
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience), 10+ years of manufacturing experience with deep expertise in assembly and integration, demonstrated experience developing manufacturing systems for complex assemblies or aircraft, and strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and manufacturing process architecture.
