Divergent 3D is building the next generation of industrial manufacturing through advanced systems and integrated engineering platforms. As a Staff Machine Reliability Engineer, you will lead the resolution of complex, systemic machine reliability challenges across Divergent's additive manufacturing fleet. You will own the full lifecycle of reliability issues: intake, triage, and prioritization of engineering escalations based on fleet impact, recurrence, severity, and business need. You will determine appropriate engineering ownership and engage subject-matter experts across hardware, automation & controls, materials & processes, manufacturing design engineering, software, and supplier quality. You will coordinate and support root cause and corrective action (RCCA) for recurring, systemic, and machine-level failures. This includes driving complex, cross-functional investigations, cultivating a problem-solving culture that looks beyond symptoms to identify true root cause, challenging assumptions, and ensuring technical conclusions are supported by data. You will drive engineering issues through validated closure by coordinating with SMEs to develop solutions, providing guidance on evidence generation to demonstrate corrective actions resolve issues, and tracking aging and closure of engineering actions. You will inform future product design by supporting the generation of engineering standards and requirements informed by reliability learnings. As a technical leader, you will serve as the go-to expert for reliability problems spanning multiple engineering disciplines and organizational boundaries. You will create alignment when ownership or technical direction is unclear, drive teams toward evidence-based decisions, and communicate reliability risks, technical findings, and recommended actions clearly to engineering and business leadership. You will also improve the mechanisms, metrics, and processes used to manage engineering reliability issues and create a sustainable reliability function. Divergent is a qualified Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs and supports leading U.S. aerospace and defense companies. This role operates across Machine Development, Product Support Engineering, Service, Production, and engineering teams to convert fleet experience into stronger design requirements and future machine capabilities. **Requirements:** - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field - 6+ years of experience in machine development, reliability engineering, manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, or related discipline - Demonstrated experience leading complex root cause investigations and corrective actions on electromechanical or automated equipment - Strong understanding of structured problem-solving methodologies such as RCCA, 8D, fault-tree analysis, FMEA, DOE, or equivalent methods - Experience working across mechanical, electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, and/or process engineering disciplines - Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls - Preferred: Experience establishing or scaling reliability engineering processes, issue-management systems, engineering standards, or technical-debt reduction mechanisms
