Fin is an AI Customer Agent company building the highest-performing AI customer support agent on the market. The Machine Learning team is responsible for defining new ML features, researching algorithms, and rapidly prototyping solutions that ship to customers within weeks of successful offline testing. As a Staff Machine Learning Scientist, you will play a senior technical leadership role within the ML organization. Your responsibilities include: - Hiring, mentoring, and developing other ML engineers on the team - Setting technical standards for performance, reliability, and operational excellence - Identifying high-impact opportunities where machine learning can create customer value - Collaborating with Product and Design to frame problems in ML terms - Conducting exploratory data analysis and deep research into problem domains - Researching and selecting appropriate algorithms and tools, balancing pragmatism with cutting-edge innovation - Performing offline evaluation and validation of algorithms - Partnering with ML product engineers to move prototypes to production - Measuring impact, planning iterations, and socializing learnings across the organization The team has shipped a diverse range of ML solutions, from classical supervised models to unsupervised clustering and transformer-based neural networks, all focused on measurable customer impact. Required qualifications: 5-8 years of applied ML experience with demonstrated senior/staff-level impact; strong programming skills; experience as a primary technical leader; advanced degree in ML or related field (MSc or PhD); scientific thinking and communication skills across engineering and cross-functional teams; comfort with ambiguity. Bonus: track record shipping ML products to production; research environment experience; deep expertise in NLP, deep learning, Bayesian methods, reinforcement learning, or clustering; strong statistics/math background; data visualization and SQL skills.
