Conga is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to drive strategic ML/AI initiatives in Bangalore. This is a high-impact individual contributor role that balances hands-on technical work with architectural leadership and mentorship.
You will own end-to-end ML/AI solution design and deployment, architecting systems that translate business requirements into scalable machine learning implementations. Key responsibilities include: designing and deploying production ML models; optimizing ML systems for performance, scalability, and reliability; conducting code reviews and mentoring engineers to foster technical excellence; collaborating with Product Managers, data scientists, and cross-functional teams to align on objectives; and representing the ML/Science team in operations meetings to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
The role requires 8+ years of industry experience with 5+ years specifically in AI/ML solutions. You should have expert-level Python proficiency and hands-on experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, Scikit-learn, Spark ML), cloud platforms (Azure, Databricks), and modern NLP techniques including transformer fine-tuning (BERT, RoBERTa, LegalBERT, DeBERTa) via HuggingFace and PEFT/LoRA.
Specialized expertise in one of these areas is required: Named Entity Recognition/Ontology, Document search (BM25, vector search, re-rankers), or Recommendation systems (collaborative filtering, content-based, hybrid, two-tower, learning-to-rank). Prior exposure to NLP in the legal domain is a strong advantage.
You will report to the Director and work within Conga's commercial operations platform, which serves 10,000+ customers including 50% of Fortune 100 companies. The company unifies pricing, quoting, contracting, rebates, and communications to drive profitable growth and trusted decision-making.
