KAYAK, part of Booking Holdings, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical direction of KAYAK for Business (K4B), a corporate travel platform serving enterprise clients globally. This role is hybrid, requiring at least 3 days per week in the Vilnius office.
You will serve as a technical leader across multiple engineering squads, designing and implementing scalable backend systems that power AI-driven booking experiences and enterprise integrations. Key responsibilities include ensuring search and booking logic performs reliably under enterprise-scale requirements, architecting high-performance integration frameworks for third-party APIs with emphasis on low-latency execution and high availability, and providing technical guidance on complex architectural trade-offs.
Beyond individual technical contributions, you'll spearhead engineering lifecycle improvements—establishing observability patterns, maturing CI/CD practices, and refining internal standards for code quality and distributed system design. You'll translate business objectives into robust technical specifications and communicate architectural risks and opportunities to leadership.
Required qualifications: 7+ years with the Java ecosystem and Spring Framework (Boot, Security); expertise designing high-throughput data systems using PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis; fluent English; knowledge of B2B integration patterns (SAML, OAuth2, OIDC, SCIM) and identity platforms (Okta, Workday, Azure AD). AI/LLM experience is a plus.
Compensation includes base salary of €4,500–€6,667 gross monthly, ~10% annual bonus, and a $20,000 USD RSU package with potential yearly refreshes. Benefits include flexible remote work (up to 20 days/year), professional development funds, comprehensive health insurance, flexible sick leave, birthday day off, annual company vacation week, parental leave support, office perks (free lunch twice weekly, yoga), paid volunteering time, and mental health support (SpringHealth, Headspace).
