1Password is seeking a Staff IT Engineer to lead the Device Infrastructure Services team through a strategic transformation from legacy device management to DevOps and AI-enabled operations. You'll own the technical direction of infrastructure supporting ~2,000 endpoints across the organization, ensuring compliance, security, and performance at scale.
In this role, you'll be both a strategic leader and hands-on builder. You'll define and execute a 12-month roadmap transitioning the team to a GitOps-based operating model with infrastructure-as-code, version control, code review, and CI/CD pipelines replacing manual console changes. You'll mentor engineers, raise the technical ceiling of the team, and drive adoption of responsible agentic AI across device operations—building guardrails to determine what agents can act on autonomously versus what requires human checkpoints.
Key responsibilities include: owning the technical direction and tooling standards for device compliance and security; driving the DevOps operating model adoption across the IT team; leading responsible AI adoption with appropriate safeguards; serving as the final escalation point for high-severity endpoint incidents on macOS and Windows; partnering with IT, Security, and product teams on custom solutions; assessing and piloting new tooling (MDM platforms, patch management systems) and driving build-vs-buy decisions; and collaborating with product teams to advise on features from a real-world enterprise deployment perspective.
You'll establish device health metrics and remediation standards, develop an AI-assisted operations strategy with clear automation milestones, and ensure major OS updates land safely across the organization. Success means a clear transition roadmap, robust device health metrics, a balanced AI-assisted operations strategy, and a team that's growing in capability and ownership.
