Polymarket is the world's largest prediction market platform, enabling users to trade on outcomes across politics, economics, sports, culture, and current affairs. The platform operates as a peer-to-peer marketplace with no centralized house, aggregating diverse opinions into market-based probabilities. With $21B traded in 2025 and rapid growth, Polymarket is building infrastructure to support high-volume, low-latency trading systems.
As a Staff Infrastructure Engineer, you will be a core individual contributor responsible for designing, building, and operating the platform infrastructure that powers Polymarket's exchange and product engineering teams. This is a high-ownership role with minimal bureaucracy and a strong execution bias.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own and operate the Kubernetes-based platform running Polymarket's services, including cluster architecture, workload scheduling, and multi-environment management
- Design and implement systems for autoscaling, load balancing, service discovery, and disaster recovery to handle real trading volume
- Write production-grade infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi) to eliminate manual toil and automate deployment, provisioning, and operations
- Build and maintain fast, reliable CI/CD pipelines enabling frequent, confident deployments
- Develop monitoring, logging, and alerting systems; participate in on-call rotations and lead incident root-cause analysis
- Architect and optimize AWS/GCP cloud infrastructure for cost, performance, and security
- Collaborate with backend, exchange, and product engineering teams to ensure infrastructure supports platform performance and growth
You should have 8+ years of professional infrastructure, platform, or DevOps engineering experience at large-scale companies with high-traffic production systems. Deep hands-on expertise with Kubernetes and Docker in production is essential, along with strong software engineering fundamentals (Go, Python, or similar). Experience with major cloud providers (AWS or GCP), infrastructure-as-code tooling, CI/CD systems, and debugging complex distributed systems on Linux is required. Experience with high-throughput/low-latency financial or trading systems, service mesh, GitOps, multi-cluster architectures, or observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry) is a plus.
