Komodo Health is seeking a Staff Infrastructure Engineer to lead the cloud infrastructure and shared services platform that powers the entire engineering organization. The company builds the Healthcare Map, the industry's largest view of the U.S. healthcare system using de-identified patient data and clinical algorithms, helping healthcare organizations reduce disease burden.
You will own the architecture, operating model, and modernization roadmap for Komodo's cloud-native infrastructure stack (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions) and shared services including identity and access management, API gateway, network security, and the internal developer platform. The Infrastructure team recently inherited several platforms without clear ownership; establishing durable ownership, operating practices, and modernization roadmaps is central to this role.
Key responsibilities include: designing and operating AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure as code; setting standards and safe patterns for AI-assisted infrastructure work; hardening security and compliance posture (SOC2, HIPAA, least-privilege IAM/RBAC); driving infrastructure optimization across reliability, scalability, developer experience, and cost; raising the technical bar through design review, mentorship, and documentation; and participating in the on-call rotation and incident response.
In your first 12 months, you will establish AI-assisted workflows as the team's default operating model, bring inherited shared services under infrastructure-as-code with documented ownership and runbooks, deliver measurable cloud cost reduction, improve platform currency and upgrade discipline, and reduce developer friction by automating high-volume manual request paths.
Required: 8+ years in infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering with deep hands-on AWS experience running production systems at scale where security and cost were first-class concerns. Infrastructure-as-code proficiency with Terraform as a default working mode. You should be comfortable with Kubernetes, GitOps, CI/CD, and the security/compliance demands of healthcare data.
