Okta's AI Acceleration Team is building identity and security infrastructure for the AI era. The team focuses on two critical challenges: authorizing what AI agents can do on behalf of users, and preventing phishing attacks against both humans and agents. As a Staff Fullstack Engineer, you will own the technical build for solving agent authorization and phishing resistance in a 0-to-1 environment. You will drive core authorization challenges by defining how companies authorize agent actions and enforce least privilege. You'll design secure, phishing-resistant authentication and authorization systems for both people and AI agents. Beyond coding, you'll shape the product roadmap by understanding customer needs, defining desired outcomes, and building toward them. You'll own the quality bar, acting as the voice for product and quality judgment while taking ownership of outcomes, not just code. Architecturally, you'll make and defend decisions on distributed systems and complex API integrations that scale as the work grows. You'll advance how the team uses AI across the development lifecycle—design, review, and shipping—and coach others to raise the technical bar. You'll spot and prioritize tech debt, driving improvements in CI/CD, observability, documentation, reliability, and support. The role requires a self-starter mentality with the ability to thrive in ambiguity while helping form a new team charter. You'll maintain a direct line to customer problems and outcomes. The tech stack includes Vercel, AWS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Java. You'll need advanced proficiency with AI tools, proven architectural expertise, solid security fundamentals (web auth/authz), deep backend proficiency in Java or type-safe languages, high JavaScript/TypeScript fullstack capability, and strong AWS cloud architecture knowledge. Extra credit for zero-to-one startup experience, leading teams through significant shifts (AI adoption, new tooling), or IAM background.
