Join Okta's AI Acceleration Team as a Staff Fullstack Engineer to build identity and security infrastructure for the AI era. This is a 0-to-1 opportunity where you'll own the technical build for solving agent authorization and phishing resistance—two critical problems at the intersection of identity and AI agents.
You'll take on core authorization challenges, designing how companies authorize agent actions while enforcing least privilege. You'll build phishing-resistant authentication and authorization systems for both people and AI agents acting on their behalf. This role combines deep technical ownership with product thinking: you'll dig into customer needs, define outcomes, and build toward them rather than executing pre-specified solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Solving core authorization challenges for AI agents and defining least-privilege enforcement
- Designing secure, phishing-resistant access for people and agents
- Bringing product mindset to customer problems and shaping which problems the team tackles
- Making and defending architectural decisions on distributed systems and complex API integrations
- Driving technical architecture that scales as the work grows
- Advancing how the team uses AI across the development lifecycle (design, review, ship)
- Coaching and multiplying team capability, raising the technical bar across the organization
- Spotting and prioritizing tech debt, driving improvements in CI/CD, observability, documentation, reliability, and support
- Maintaining a clear line to customer problems and outcomes, even when not in every conversation
You'll work with Vercel and AWS, primarily in JavaScript/TypeScript and Java. This is a new team shaping its own charter, so you'll operate with speed and urgency while maintaining excellence. The role requires a self-starter mentality, the ability to thrive in ambiguity, and a track record of making architectural decisions with org-wide impact.
Ideal candidates bring advanced proficiency with AI tools across the development lifecycle, deep backend expertise in type-safe languages, true fullstack range with robust frontend shipping capability, strong cloud architecture fundamentals on AWS, and solid web authentication/authorization knowledge. Extra credit for zero-to-one startup experience, leading teams through cultural or tooling shifts, or IAM development background.
