Salary: USD 150,000 - 300,000 / annual
Traversal is an AI Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) platform trusted by large enterprises to troubleshoot, remediate, and prevent complex production incidents. The company is building an AI agent lab for enterprise infrastructure, with a team including researchers from MIT, Harvard, and Berkeley alongside engineers from Citadel Securities, Cockroach Labs, Datadog, ServiceNow, Glean, Perplexity, and Pinecone.
As a Staff Full-Stack Product Engineer, you will design and build core product surfaces powered by Traversal's AI SRE capabilities. This role requires owning complex systems end-to-end—from user interface through backend services and infrastructure—translating advanced AI capabilities into reliable, production-grade experiences for engineers managing large-scale systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving end-to-end development of core product capabilities, translating AI-driven insights into intuitive workflows
- Designing scalable system architectures spanning frontend, backend services, and data infrastructure for real-time observability and automated operations
- Designing and implementing high-performance APIs and service layers that power the product and integrate AI systems, backend services, and user interfaces
- Building highly interactive interfaces for exploring operational data and iterating with users on product workflows
- Designing efficient strategies for storing, processing, and retrieving large-scale operational data using PostgreSQL, Redis, and distributed systems
- Collaborating with AI engineers and researchers to operationalize model outputs in production systems
- Shaping engineering best practices and influencing technical direction across the codebase
Required qualifications: 8+ years building and operating complex full-stack systems in production; strong proficiency in Python and modern backend frameworks (FastAPI or similar); deep experience building modern frontend applications with React and TypeScript; experience designing and operating scalable backend services and APIs; cloud deployment experience (AWS, ECS, Kubernetes); experience with data-intensive systems including PostgreSQL and distributed storage; strong product instincts; ability to operate effectively in early-stage startup environments.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with data-heavy interfaces and time-series visualization, observability platforms, infrastructure tooling, developer platforms, AI/LLM-powered products, and large-scale distributed applications.
